Katahdins are a wonderful hair sheep that grow well and quickly in all sorts of conditions. Our Katahdins are pasture and barn raised. They are enthusiastic grazers and grow well on a pasture diet during our green months.
They have mild temperaments and make excellent, prolific, heavy milking mothers. (A ewe may produce triplets several years in a row and raise them with out assistance.)
We are striving toward a competitive, fast growing, well muscled Katahdin that will consistently produce and raise twins or triplets primarily on grass. We continue to select for parasite and desease resistance.
We want to strengthen the strengths of the breed. The Katahdin is really an amazing sheep and it has an excellent future ahead!
Be have been blessed to get our hands on some wonderful stock. Our first Katahdins came to us from Canada. Since then we have been able to purchase stock from some of the excellent breeders here in the north west as well as developing and cultivating our own line.
We regularly test for OPP and CL and have always had a clean flock. We also do genetic testing for Scrapie resistance.
