The 10th VA is a group of Christian homeschooled friends who enjoy reenacting. We try to be as authentic as possible without spending too much money. We began by studying the War Between the States, then we became interested in living history. Now we enjoy fighting, marching, sewing clothes, making muskets, playing music, dancing, period camping and cooking, and many other parts of life in the 19th century.

The "hardcore group" at our Sharpsburg 140th. We marched about three miles and slept outside with the equipment we are wearing. September 18, 2002

The previous year's re-enactment of the Sharpsburg Cornfield, September 29, 2001

Our replica of the 10th Virginia's state flag.

The original flag was carried by our ancestor, color Sgt. Gabriel Shank. He carried it through the war from just after 1st Manassas until September 1864, when he was captured at the battle of Fisher's Hill. The Flag is now restored and on display at the Rockingham Co. Historical Society museum in Harrisonburg, Va.

The story of Gabriel Shank
